Three years ago, the Information Technology School – ITS launched the Project Center in order to ensure that the students gain practical knowledge and skills while they are still studying. The center offers work on real projects, supported by the professors and the experts from the companies that founded ITS – LINKgroup and Comtrade.
Work experience during studies
Project Center’s goals include letting the students experience working and collaborating in the professional world and check their own teamwork abilities. This is another way for them to learn a lot and advance their knowledge in different areas even further.
The Project Center operates in a dedicated environment, equipped to include all the necessary elements of an actual workplace. This provides the best way to improve on the knowledge already acquired – through practical teamwork, and gain experience on a concrete project, as well as a sound reference.
The clients include various companies, associations and institutions from different fields and branches, who would like to advance their business and elevate it to a higher level. Their goal is to be even more modern and efficient, to follow global trends – and they share these goals with ITS students who are a part of the Project Center.
What is working at Project Center like?
The students who work at the Project Center are divided into teams. Each team has its leader and each team member has an own task, realistic deadlines and consultations on how a project should be realized. The students are in touch with the client, with whom they have briefings, arranging the details of the final solution – as will be the case with the real projects that await them upon the completion of their studies.
A work cycle for a student group is six months on the average, which is followed by transferring the knowledge to the next team, who continues the project activities – which is another important step in tomorrow’s work on the market: how to leave a well-organized documentation and how to take over project activities began by earlier members.
The ITS Project Center was designed exclusively for ITS students interested in entering the business world at the earliest opportunity to see what it is like to work with real resources, on real tasks. The students engaged at the Project Center thereby advance their knowledge and skills, while the task realization itself brings along practical experience that will be of considerable use in their future career.
Project Center project example
How to use information technology to preserve cultural heritage and introduce it to the new generations – that was the challenge successfully faced by a group of ITS Project Center students that created a visual guide through the Museum of Vuk and Dositej. This audio and video guide provides closer insight into the museum’s collection to the visitors of the museum, through stories about the lives and works of Vuk Stefanović Karadžić and Dositej Obradović. You can view the results of the work on this project here.
ITS continually finds new ways to enable the students to apply their IT knowledge in the most practical way. The ITS Project Center is the right place for anyone who does not want to wait until the end of their studies in order to meet clients, organize a project and gain professional experience.
