Course objectives
Introducing students to the basic principles of creating visual effects on film, and acquiring practically applicable knowledge.
Course outcomes
Students will be introduced to the fundamentals of compositing, image parameters and other aspects of visual effects. They will acquire applicable skills related to Adobe After Effects software. They will learn to create a new project, how to do compositing and basic configuration and settings of this tool. Students will familiarize themselves with layer types, ways to add masks to layers and ways to add layers to a composition. They will record original video material, learn the basic camera settings, how to adjust focus, exposition, white balance, how to record using Chroma Key, ways to use the Roto Brush tool, how to create a 3D view from static images. They will master drawing tools in Adobe After Effects, learn to use the Warp effect, applications of the track motion, and track camera tools, and how to render a video.
