The objective of the course Social and Legal Context of IT is perceiving the influence of social and legal aspects on information and communication technologies, as well as the impact of IT itself on the shaping of social relations and the emergence of new forms of criminal activity related to its use.
The students will acquire knowledge from the realms of influence of information technology on the individual and the society, the elements that make up the information society, prerequisites for the development of information society in Serbia, the sociological aspects of information technology (social isolations, digital gap, social capital). The students will learn about the latest statistical indicators regarding the number of internet users worldwide, the potential of virtual communities, the specific characteristics of virtual communities, managing the Internet, the forms of cyber crime, (phishing, email bombing, spoofing, card skimming, types of malicious software, DOS and DDOS attacks, software piracy and how widespread it is nowadays), the techniques of protection in banking operations, the forms of hardware protection (dongle, token…), the concept and use of cryptography, the types of intellectual property, copyright, copyright protection on the Internet, the importance of e-recycling in contemporary environment.
