Course objective

The objective of the course is introducing the students to the main concepts connected with quality, as well ensuring that they understand the fundamental principles of quality management. Mastering the principles and modes of quality management in business systems. It is especially important to determine the role and importance of quality of all factors that affect the quality of people’s life and work. The student needs to understand the place, role and importance of quality, as well as the quality of products and services. This course aims to provide a comprehensive theoretical and practical knowledge needed for solving the problem of integral product and service quality management.

Course outcome

The students will learn and understand the relationship between quality and competitive position of a company, what is the interest of different stakeholders concerning quality, what are the indicators of product quality, the importance of continual quality enhancement at organization level and the activities in that process. The students will learn about the fundamentals of the quality management system, gain insight into the importance of quality in different phases of a product’s life cycle, learn the basic principles that comprise the basis for the introduction of ISO standards, the principles of integrated quality management, the importance and the foundation of reengineering as a function of quality advancement, the elements of quality policy, the tasks, duties and responsibilities of different subjects regarding the maintaining of the required level of product quality, the importance and mechanisms of quality control, and the ways in which the quality system is conditioned by the organizational structure.
