Course objective

The objective of the course is introducing the students to the theory and practice of investing, for the purposes of acquiring the fundamental knowledge from the realm of managing the investment process and activities and mastering the basic methodologies and techniques that are used for the preparation and assessment of investment projects. Developing the abilities and skills concerning communication and managing project activities.

Course outcome

The students will learn about the concept and types of investment, portfolio and the competitive strategy of company development, the basic principles of investment policy, the phases of the investment process, the importance and way of realization of pre-investment analysis, the steps in the making of a feasibility study. They will learn how an analysis of an investor’s development possibilities is performed, about the steps in market analysis, the aspects of a technological project and installations, how to make an assessment of micro and macro location of an investment project, environment analysis, human resource analysis and an assessment of the required investment assets. They will acquire practically applicable knowledge in investment project income calculations, as well as different categories of expenses, the elements that make up a schedule of the realization of an investment, statistical indicators used for the assessment of the rentability of an investment project. They will learn how to calculate the present value of an investment project and what dynamic indicators are used for investment project assessment.
