Course objective

The objective of this course is the mastering of the basic concepts of ERP-class information systems, understanding their role in an organization, understanding the functions of ERP, as well enabling the students for independent decision making when it comes to the acquisition of an adequate ERP system for a concrete organization, along with the ability to manage the part of the organization whose roles is to manage the ERP system. The ability of proper business process modeling and understanding the role of ERP systems in business process management.

 

Course outcome

Upon the successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:

  • Identify business processes
  • Understand the concept of master data
  • Understand the role of a database in business process management
  • Understand the relationship between business processes and business process models in an ERP system
  • Independently model business processes at the theoretical level
  • Recognize and describe the main processes, master data, reports and possible problems in the accounting department
  • Recognize and describe the main processes, master data, reports and possible problems in the supply department 
  • Recognize and describe the main processes, master data, reports and possible problems in the production department
  • Recognize and describe the main processes, master data, reports and possible problems in the storage department
  • Recommend an adequate concrete ERP for a concrete organization
  • Model business processes in the ERP used in exercises
  • Know the major principles of ERP department management
