Course objective
English Language 1 prepares the student to apply a wide range of grammar rules and words in oral and written form. In conversation with a native speaker, the student will be able to formulate sentences through selecting adequate vocabulary and grammatical structures. The student will be able to recognize the implicit meaning of structures without necessarily knowing the exact meaning of each word. The students will also be able to use the acquired knowledge within higher levels of English. Through attending this course, the students will learn the following grammatical concepts and their practical use: Present Simple Tense, Present Continuous Tense, Simple Past Tense, Past Continuous Tense, Simple Future Tense, Present Perfect Tense, Comparison of Adjectives, Prepositions, Reflexive Pronouns, Modal verbs, Defining Relative Clauses, Non-defining Relative Clauses Passive Voice, Reported Speech, Conditional Sentences (Type 1, Type 2, Type 3).
