Course objectives

The objective of the course E-Business is to provide its students the essential knowledge of the application of modern technology in business. During the classes, students will acquire explanations of the concept and the importance of electronic commerce as a phenomenon of rapid development along with the rise of ICT, electronic government, electronic payments in the context of interbank transfers, retail and internet transfers, e-health services, e-learning and other modern concepts. As part of their practical training, the students will have the opportunity to learn by demonstration about various commercial software solutions used in today’s business practice.

Course outcome

Students will learn about the basic models of electronic business, the characteristics and modes of applications of the advertising model, infomediary model and ransom business model. Students will acquire practical and applicable knowledge in the area of multifunctional payment systems, PayPal, QVoucher and various other options for billing of goods and services through web-site. We will put a special focus on the business models of successful internet companies, the basic preconditions for starting an internet business, Content Management Systems and their applications, international clearing of foreign exchange payments, RTGS system functioning, the purpose of ERP systems, the types of payment cards, charge, installment and revolving credit cards, the strategies and techniques to use in internet advertising, the functionalities of GoogleDrive service, the opportunities of applying cloud computing applications in business, the functioning of BitCoin, the modes of realizing transactions with payment cards at ATM and POS terminals, the modes of realizing transactions with payment cards on the Internet, the basics of e-Government, the concept of processor and its role in transaction processing, the factors that determine the choice of distribution channels in internet business, the trends in distance learning systems, the basics of web-site search engine optimization.
