Study program / study programs: INFORMATION SYSTEMS

Type and level of studies: Undergraduate applied studies

Subject: DATA ANALYSIS THROUGH SOFTWARE TOOLS

Status: Compulsory

ECTS credits: 7

Course objective

The objective of the course Data Analysis through Software Tools is to ensure that the students master the skills of collection, organization, statistical analysis and presentation of data, to perceive the causal relationships in natural and social phenomena and build an appropriate model and use the appropriate software tools.

Course outcome

Upon the completion of the course on performing data analysis using software, the students will be able to:

  • Explain natural and social phenomena in situations of uncertainty
  • Apply probability calculus in decision-making
  • Model real problem using appropriate random variables
  • Argue their opinions using different representations of data, and measure central tendency and variability using appropriate software
  • Set hypotheses and make decisions using appropriate test and statistical software
  • Analyze the dependence of different variables in the real context through building an appropriate regression model, using appropriate software
  • Determine regularity in a data series using time series analysis software
