Last week, members of the Photo Club had the opportunity to attend a workshop led by fellow student Filip Stefanović, a final-year student in the Computer Multimedia program. The workshop covered almost everything necessary for a professional photographer to be successful in their work.
Students learned a lot
Our students learned how to set up products, cameras, and lighting in an improvised studio created for the purposes of this workshop. Filip Stefanović shared his knowledge and experience with club members, who were very curious. Among them, enthusiasm grew every time they got different results by changing the parameters of the camera and lighting equipment. They discovered that different materials of products require different conditions for photography. Filip also revealed all the secrets and tricks for materials like glass, stainless steel, lacquered surfaces, and gold foil to look beautiful, and proper, without the reflection of other objects in the room.
Connecting the camera to a laptop allowed attendees to see directly what the finished photograph looked like. By reading the brightness values of pixels in the photograph, they could decide whether it was necessary to change flash or aperture parameters. Club members also heard useful advice regarding screen calibration and the choice of programs that offer numerous functionalities when it comes to adjusting and reviewing photographs.
Excellent opportunity to gain new knowledge
This was just one of the workshops held for members of the Photo Club. Working with professional equipment and experienced photographers is an excellent opportunity for our students interested in photography to gain new knowledge, exchange experiences, and broaden their horizons. In addition to the mentioned benefits, membership in the Photo Club provides an opportunity for students to socialize, collaborate, and learn from each other.
In addition to workshops, ITS has prepared other activities for Photo Club members, such as photographing various events and doing “homework assignments”. This way, students can excel in the field of documentary photography and have the freedom to photograph when it comes to assignments on a specific theme. This winter, the theme of the homework assignment is “New Year’s Portrait”. We eagerly await their work.
