Alempije Veljović has over 30 years of teaching experience in many renowned higher education institutions (Faculty of Mechanical Engineering in Belgrade, Military Technical Academy, the School of Computing in Belgrade, Faculty of Technical Sciences in Čačak, ITS), in the areas of IT, object-oriented programming, information system development, information system management, databases and expert systems. As an assistant at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering in Belgrade (the Production Cybernetics program at the Production Mechanical Engineering department), he worked on the development of information systems. In 1981 he earned his MA in the development of information systems in the design of technological processes from the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering in Belgrade.
In 1987 he obtained his PhD at the same faculty with a thesis entitled Technological Recognition of Parts and Shapes Using AI elements. He has held all academic positions, from assistant to professor. He has written a number of teaching materials (textbooks, workbooks and other publications) and more than 100 scientific papers, several of which have been published in international journals.
Since 2003 he has been a regular member of the Yugoslav Engineering Academy. He supervised five PhD theses. He has managed or contributed to several scientific projects in the areas of IS development in the metal industry, municipal administration, higher education institutions, banking, etc. He is the president of the program board of the international conference Business process reengineering in education, organized by the Faculty of Technical Sciences in Čačak. He has held over 100 seminars related to IS design and integration with the requirements of JUS ISO 9000 standards.
